- The green torsos had to wait for their power to develop, so when they were very young they were absolutely powerless. This is why Clover is attached to LE, when Clover was developing his luck he had to be looked after constantly so that he didnt get killed accidentally due to being very small.
- When LE was young he hopped a lot of timelines, and would stick around at Deaths [from Problem Sleuth!!] place while recovering in between. They have a grandpa/mentor and son relationship, and when Death is brought up LE sort of descends into a more childish personality.
Here is an explanation as to why LE talks about death freely and reblogs grim reapers and such.
LE is hinted to be a grim reaper of sorts, at least in tales from Terezi and such. Well, I have a headcanon that PS and homestuck are connected and intertwined, and there is already Death. So LE would reap the souls of trolls and The Felt (hence why they’re literally immortal) and Death would take humans and carapace. It’s a splitting up of jobs, and they work together.
So basically LE is just asking to possibly reap a soul a little early, but he’s wary about humans since he has no jurisdiction.
As a bonus here is some explanation I wrote near the beginning of my roleplaying to try and explain him, even without all this character development:

i think of him as this big childish guy, who plays with the green torsos and is generally a pretty cool guy.
he doesnt really handle much of the business of keeping everything going, Doc pretty much does that. He tries to help but he usually does something incorrect.
Hes just really silly, and likes to spend time with the rest of the Felt. His favourite green torso is Clover because he so small and cute. LE had to watch out for clover more so than the others while he was ‘growing’ and his powers were developing, since he is so small.
Of course, LE’s favourite felt member overall is Doc. Lovers extraordinaire.
